Exercise and Motivation – When you have one, you have the other!
I have to say that the relationship between Excercise and Motivation for me is so very important!
I purposely go to the gym several times a week and I now can’t imagine my quality of life without doing so. I started going to the gym to exercise regularly years ago after my general health was starting to decline with increased weight and high blood pressure.
I said “Enough!”
After seeing my Doctor for an annual exam, he told me that I was at the point in my life where I needed to make a change. Wow! Was that a shock to hear!
Well I took the advice to heart and I started going to the gym regularly. Admittedly, it was tough to work into my already hectic schedule! (Work, Kids Events, Etc.) but I made it a point to show up to the gym 3-4 times a week. Well after a short amount of time, I saw the benefits my body was experiencing and exercising quickly became a habit!
You DON’T need to join a Gym!
Yeah, I said it. You don’t need to join a gym to get exercise. What do I do to exercise?
- Go for a walk
It’s amazing how much a 20 minute walk can change your demeaner! It’s easy, no equipment needed (except maybe comfortable shoes) and you’re off! The beauty of walking is that I would take that time and think about my business, create a to do list for the day (yes, I walk with my day-planner).
- I started running!
When I was traveling a lot for work, several friends told me that it’s very easy to pack running shoes and shorts. Sure enough, they were right. Hotel gym quality is across the board, but running while on the road was great for staying in shape as well as seeing new people and places.
- Just being active around the house!
While I have certain shows I watch on television, I rarely ever sit and watch. Instead I’m doing chores, laundry, etc. with the TV on and it’s relatively easy to stay on task with a show if I can just hear it on while I’m doing this and that.
What does exercise and motivation have to do with each other?
You’ll quickly find out that when you start exercising, your mind works better! You’re doing something. You’re accomplishing something. Soon it becomes a habit.
What I found is that when I exercised more, my motivation went way up! My brain worked better, my body felt better, I was able to use this time to plan my business and my life. This is the kind of multi-tasking I’m in full support of!
Tony Robbins is a huge proponent of “Just start moving!” and things will begin to change. He can’t be more right. Action takes movement and what better way to start this than exercising!
I Challenge You!
Yes, I challenge you. Exercise everyday for a week (more than you already do) and I know you’ll start to feel better! Whatever shape your in, you can do a little something and build n it.
When you exercise more, your motivation to accommplish your goals will increase!
Let me know your thoughts!!!!
